Restaurant of the Month: The Seven Hills in Istanbul

Welcome to our first edition of “Restaurant of the Month,” where we spotlight extraordinary dining experiences from our travels. This exciting new feature aims to inspire your next culinary adventure, offering suggestions and insights to enhance your wanderlust. While we often explore the vibrant restaurant scene in Switzerland, our journey sometimes takes us further afield. This month, our travels led us to the bustling city of Istanbul, Turkey.

Introducing Seven Hills Restaurant Istanbul

During our recent visit to Istanbul, we had the pleasure of dining at the Seven Hills Restaurant. Nestled near the historic Sultanahmet district, this gem offers a rooftop terrace with breathtaking views of the Bosphorus and the iconic Blue Mosque. We were charmed by the scenery, but it was the culinary experience that truly captured our hearts.

A Delightful Breakfast Experience

Our visit to Seven Hills coincided with a sunny spring morning, the perfect setting for indulging in a traditional Turkish breakfast. Despite forgetting to buy sunglasses at the Grand Bazaar, the warm sunshine and panoramic views compensated generously. The staff graciously seated us at the best spot, right at the edge, where we could savor both the food and the vistas.

The breakfast menu runs until noon, and we were thrilled to embark on a culinary journey at 11 AM. Our goal was to explore as many traditional Turkish dishes as possible. The array of small plates included different variations of eggs, sausages, assorted cheeses, fresh fruits, vegetables, wraps, and the irresistible baklava. Despite some items being unfamiliar, each dish was exquisitely prepared, revealing the rich flavors of Turkish cuisine.

Turkish Tea and Toasting the Experience

As we neared the end of our lavish breakfast, a bottle of water and traditional Turkish tea were just what we needed to cleanse our palates. This feast was not just abundant—it was a delightful assault on the senses. We left a few morsels behind, our stomachs content but not overwhelmed, thanks in part to the soothing finish of Turkish tea.

An Unforgettable Feast

The taste of the food was exceptional. The cheese varieties were particularly notable, and the egg and tomato mix was a highlight of the meal. Although we couldn’t finish everything, the experience was delicious and fulfilling. Moreover, the post-meal opportunity to explore another section of the terrace, capture stunning photos, and even feed the seagulls added to the charm of our visit.

Pricing and Value

The price for this extensive breakfast buffet was approximately 20-25 CHF per person. Our total bill was around 45 Swiss francs, which is quite reasonable considering it is a prime tourist spot offering unparalleled views and a memorable dining experience. While it may not be an everyday choice, Seven Hills Restaurant is perfect for a special occasion where you want to indulge in exquisite food while enjoying Istanbul’s spectacular rooftop scenery.

In Conclusion

Our dining experience at Seven Hills Restaurant was delightful in every aspect. The food was delicious, the atmosphere captivating, and the staff incredibly friendly. We happily rate our experience 5 out of 5 Ghosts, marking it as the perfect start to our “Restaurant of the Month” series. This experience left us with full stomachs and plenty of energy for exploring Istanbul’s renowned mosques and landmarks. If you ever find yourself in Istanbul, the Seven Hills Restaurant is a must-visit for both culinary adventurers and those who seek a memorable dining experience in one of the world’s most beautiful cities.
