Introduction
My first travel to Mexico was an unforgettable experience that will always remember. It was the beginning of my world trip, and my chosen destination was the stunning town of Cancun. I was filled with excitement when I stared on this adventure, ready to discover the beauty of the location. But the sun caught me off guard. As the heat was too much for my swiss body in the first days. I ended up using up a whole bottle of sunscreen in the first few days!
Exploring the City
One of my initial stops in Cancun was Downtown, a vibrant hub perfect for shopping, dining, and immersing oneself in the city’s charm. The bustling streets were lined with vendors offering a diverse range of items, including clothing, jewelry, and souvenirs. Downtown also boasted an impressive selection of restaurants, making it an ideal place to savor authentic Mexican cuisine. Additionally, I cherished my visits to the nearby beach, where I could bask in the sun and cool off in the refreshing ocean waters.
Staying at the Hostel
During my time in Cancun, I opted to stay at the Nomads Hostel. As a first-time hostel dweller, it required some adjustment. While the location was convenient, I encountered a few challenges. The hostel lacked opportunities for meaningful connections, and the persistent partying late into the night made it difficult to get a restful sleep.
Enjoying the island “isla mujeres”
Among the highlights of my Cancun experience, the island of Isla Mujeres stood out as a personal favorite. A pleasant 30-minute boat ride took me to this island paradise, where warm waters and breathtaking scenery awaited. I cherished moments of relaxation on the serene beaches, basking in the sun’s warmth. It provided a peaceful respite during my stay in Cancun.
Final Thoughts
Reflecting on my initial journey in Mexico, it was an indelible experience. Despite encountering some accommodation issues, I managed to create lasting memories. I delved into the city’s offerings, embarked on a memorable boat trip to Isla Mujeres, and savored tranquil beach moments. Although Cancun may be hailed as a popular destination, I found it to be somewhat overrated. Nevertheless, I eagerly look forward to upcoming destinations, hopeful for experiences that surpass my time in Cancun.
